Nutmeg (Myristica fragrans Houtt.) belongs to the Myristicaceae family. The plant is native to the Maluku Islands of Indonesia; however, it is extensively distributed to Grenada, India, Sri Lanka, Mauritius, South Africa, and the USA
 
Grenada is also one of the world's greatest nutmeg exporters. Nutmeg is taken by mouth for diarrhea, nausea, stomach spasms and pain, and intestinal gas.
